We're off and running with the 9U Spring season. We were very fortunate to have an outstanding turnout for our Spring tryouts and have put together a fun batch of 11 players for the upcoming season.

Our focus, as always, is development and encouragement. Development in the form of working the fundamentals consistently, building a strong baseball IQ and helping the players learn the 'how and why' for in-game scenarios they'll see. Encouragement comes in the form of keeping things fun - understanding it's a game - and that we're building good gentleman and citizens on and off the field. We stress positive feedback and that we'll all experience the highs and lows of a season together, as a team. These things together combine to provide what we believe is an enriching experience centered around the game of baseball.

We look forward to putting our product on the field and always appreciate the parents and fans in the crowds helping to support this great group of Surge members.

If you have an interest in learning more about the program, please feel free to contact Shaun Dodge via his email linked on this page. Thank you and SURGE AHEAD!

What a great finish to the Fall 2023 Surge 9U Season. We took home the title in a tournament in Denton, facing some awesome competition along the way. We also had the great fortune to play with some guests and new friends that all played roles in our success. So now we roll into the "offseason" (if there is one) and into 2024 with a new 9U roster and a new set of goals before us.

We want to thank everyone that helped support us in the Fall - parents, families, friends, other Surge teams, coaches - because we couldn't do what we do without you. We also want to thank everyone that came to our recent tryouts - what a turnout! It was a tough decision to choose new members among those that showed up but we feel as though we have some new, smart, eager Surge 9U players that are ready to work and become good leaders on and off the field.

We'll see everyone on the field soon - SURGE AHEAD!

After a mid-season break, the 9U team was back in tournament action this past weekend. We were matched up against some incredible competition but things didn't pan out as we wanted, though it helped teach the boys a great baseball lesson - that it's sometimes good to go against tougher opponents because, win or lose, you'll learn more about yourselves in the process. We're reminded that the Fall is a time for development and that our aim is to set a good foundation for the Spring and the years ahead. And, whether we like it or not, a few tough losses can help remind ourselves of the work that's still needed. This was a great opportunity to talk about leadership, mental and physical toughness and giving a little more when the occasion calls for it. Congratulations to the teams competing in the Bedford/Grapevine area this past weekend and we look forward to competing against you again.

Spring tryouts are right around the corner and Surge Baseball is always looking to improve and help guide young players into the future. Wow wow wow - what a fun weekend and the first tournament win for the Surge 9U team. This is a scrappy, sharp group that never quits and battles hard through the very end. They went into Sunday's 3-game slate as the 3-seed and took home the Champion banner and rings. Even more impressive, they issued 0 walks on the day, which is a testament to their focus and patience as pitchers. We couldn't be more proud of this team - a team of only 8 that came together just a couple months ago but have accepted their roles and have clicked as teammates and friends.

We want to thank our guests, Joao and Hunter K for helping this weekend. We only got to know them from the first pitch on Saturday but, as the tournament wrapped, they looked like a part of the team and were elated to help in bringing home the title.

There's still a lot of work to do but we'll use a day to celebrate before getting back onto the field for new lessons and scenarios. Congratulations all-around, Surge 9U. We're all so proud of you.

Surge 9U is off to a great start to our Fall season, having been together for a little over a month now. We've had some really fun scrimmages against some local, friendly teams and came in 3rd in our first tournament. You can see the boys learning something new every week and the experience of games and tournaments is helping bring out the leaders on this squad. We still have quite a bit to learn - since 9U baseball is a whole new world for some - but the coaching staff is executing a plan to show them all the scenarios they may encounter in a game and preparing them for success.

And here's the best part - you can see the budding friendships on this team. The kids are excited to see each other and are wanting to make plays for their friends and teammates. It's really great to see them grow into the game and we welcome anyone that's interested in joining to reach out if you have any questions.

I wanted to share this photo for those new to Surge Baseball to get a sense of what we're all about. This was taken after a hard-fought win in the rain in a tournament in Oklahoma this past season.

You can read it on their faces - the elation, the excitement, the exhaustion. But there are also things the photo doesn't show - the heart, the determination, the resolve to continue to battle through adversity. They're caked in mud and soaked from the rain. This was a group of kids that grew into friends and family. Win or lose, they fought for each other, and the coaching staff was proud to help them along their respective journeys.

Surge Baseball is excited to continue in our development and we're honored by those considering to join the program. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there are any questions or needs. Our contact information can be found on this page.

Surge Baseball 9U is excited to build upon our success from Spring 2023. With a focus on fundamentals and the development of a high baseball IQ, our players were Finalists in three tournaments and showed resilience and intensity whenever we played. Our opponents knew that they were going to have a challenge when they saw us on the schedule and we battled through every inning.

We've built our team with an emphasis on defense, speed and acumen for the game and provide the players opportunities to excel at different positions to help them find their true home on the field. It's our aim to unlock the true potential of our players with the backing of coaches and support staff.

We're looking for strong leaders - players that will take the lead, rally others and overcome challenges when times get tough. That's the core of Surge Baseball.

Off the field, we provide a healthy environment for the parents and families, emphasizing fun and passion through social events and more. We believe that a successful team is built through the care shown both on and off the field and will build upon the community that developed this past Spring. We make it a point that everyone that attends a Surge Baseball game will have a great time and that all are welcome.

We're excited to have you join us for the Fall Surge Baseball season and look forward to continuing the development of our young athletes and team leaders.
